Observing becomes Biting

Starting hexagram
Resulting hexagram

What this change means

Thunder and lightning take the place of wind over the earth as the first, fourth and fifth lines move. The judgments of both hexagrams carry equal weight. The starting hexagram counsels attention before action, mindful that your conduct is seen and that you have models of your own worth studying.

The resulting hexagram, 21 Biting, calls for firm, decisive steps against what blocks you, legal ones included if it comes to that, with energy and clear limits. Don't be afraid; act. The tension is plain: one says look first, the other says bite through. Together they describe a sequence. Observe until you understand the obstacle fully, and then act on it without hesitation. Watch for observation turning into endless delay; once you've seen enough, the time for looking is over and firmness is what's needed.
