Observing becomes Good Manners

What this change means

Fire glows beneath the mountain as the first, third and fifth lines change. With three lines moving, both judgments count equally. Your starting point is watchfulness. People look to you as an example, and you look to your own mentors, and this exchange of attention allows events to unfold when they're due.

The resulting hexagram, 22 Good Manners, asks for kindness, courtesy and good manners if you want good results. What might seem superficial at other times leads to success now; it's a time for everyday matters, not great undertakings. Together, they suggest that your attention is best spent on the details of how you treat people. Since others are watching, small courtesies carry weight. Handle daily affairs well and leave the big decisions for another time. Watch for dismissing form as unimportant; right now, graciousness is part of what moves things forward.
