Well-Being becomes Nourishment

What this change means

Thunder below the Mountain, like jaws that open and close: the second, third and top lines move, and Well-Being becomes 27 Nourishment. Both judgments carry the reading. Well-Being is a season of harmony, when support replaces what didn't help you. 27 Nourishment asks you to tend your physical and spiritual nourishment so you have what you need, and to help others grow as well. Success lies in giving and receiving: take in what's good for you and share it with those around you. The image adds care with words and moderation in eating and drinking. Read together, these say that well-being is something you feed. Look at what you take in, from food to ideas to company, and at what you pass on. Choose what truly nourishes, speak with care, and let the good you receive flow outward instead of piling up.

What to read, in order

Marked ● is what Zhu Xi's tradition puts at the center for this number of moving lines.

  1. The judgment of 11 Well-Being

A period of well-being, harmony and understanding is coming, and you can enjoy it. People and situations that weren't good for you are moving away, and in their place come people and situations that bring blessings and support. Heaven grants its gifts.

The small goes, the great comes. Good fortune. Success.

  2. The judgment of 27 Nourishment

Right now you need to take care of your physical and spiritual nourishment, so you have the resources you need in each area, and at the same time help others grow through what you do. Success lies in giving and receiving: take in what is good for you and share it with those around you.

Constancy brings good fortune. Watching the jaws; seeking for oneself what fills the mouth.

  3. Line 2 of 11 Well-Being

It's favorable to take decisive action that gets you out of your comfort zone and to recognize the people around you. There's no need to push anyone away; it's enough to know each person's nature.

Embracing the untilled. Wading across the river; not forgetting the distant; leaving friends behind. So it is honored on the middle way.

  4. Line 3 of 11 Well-Being

There will be ups and downs. Don't despair: enjoy the calm moments and act with caution in the face of danger.

No plain without a slope, no going without return. Constancy in hardship: no fault. Do not grieve over its truth; in eating there is blessing.

  5. Line 6 of 11 Well-Being

The situation may take a turn for the worse. Pay attention and watch for the first signs of decline. If you insist on pressing ahead, there will be loss.

The city wall falls back into the moat. Do not use the army. From the town, orders are proclaimed. Constancy brings distress.
