What this change means

A spring breaks out under the Mountain as the first, third and top lines move: Well-Being becomes 4 Immaturity. The two judgments sit in balance. Well-Being describes harmony and support, a time when good people and conditions arrive. 4 Immaturity points out that you aren't yet mature enough in this area to get where you want to go. Act with humility: ask for guidance, seek advice, and put what you learn into practice. Together they suggest that the blessings around you include teachers and helpers, and the best use of this season is to learn from them. Don't take a good time as proof that you already know the way. The image asks the noble person to act decisively and nurture virtue. So be decisive about learning: choose a guide, listen, practice, and let your understanding grow alongside your fortune.

What to read, in order

Marked ● is what Zhu Xi's tradition puts at the center for this number of moving lines.

  1. The judgment of 11 Well-Being

A period of well-being, harmony and understanding is coming, and you can enjoy it. People and situations that weren't good for you are moving away, and in their place come people and situations that bring blessings and support. Heaven grants its gifts.

The small goes, the great comes. Good fortune. Success.

  2. The judgment of 4 Immaturity

Be aware that you don't yet have the maturity you need to reach what you're after in the area of your question. Act with humility: ask for guidance, seek advice and counsel, and put what you're told into practice.

Success. I do not go looking for the ignorant youth; the ignorant youth comes looking for me. The first time the oracle is asked, I answer. A second and a third asking is an offense, and an offense gets no answer. Constancy is favorable.

  3. Line 1 of 11 Well-Being

A season of flourishing: you surround yourself with like-minded people.

The grass is pulled up, and its tangled roots come too, each with its clump. Setting out brings good fortune.

  4. Line 3 of 11 Well-Being

There will be ups and downs. Don't despair: enjoy the calm moments and act with caution in the face of danger.

No plain without a slope, no going without return. Constancy in hardship: no fault. Do not grieve over its truth; in eating there is blessing.

  5. Line 6 of 11 Well-Being

The situation may take a turn for the worse. Pay attention and watch for the first signs of decline. If you insist on pressing ahead, there will be loss.

The city wall falls back into the moat. Do not use the army. From the town, orders are proclaimed. Constancy brings distress.
