Wealth becomes Conflict

What this change means

Heaven and water move in opposite directions: with three alternating lines changing, prosperity runs into a dispute. 14 Wealth describes abundance that lasts when your character stays centered and you practice generosity and good deeds. 6 Conflict, the resulting hexagram, describes a conflict that action won't resolve, where cleverness works better than force and wise advice helps you out. In balance, your resources may be at the center of a disagreement, and using them as a weapon would only deepen it. Don't try to win by spending more or pushing harder. Accept that you can't settle it right now. Let some things take their course, consult someone with good judgment, and think carefully about how you begin anything new. Your generosity and steadiness can keep the dispute from consuming what you've built.

What to read, in order

  2. The judgment of 6 Conflict

  4. Line 3 of 14 Wealth

Greed, or using wealth only for your own benefit, will bring difficulties and loss. Generosity opens new possibilities.

The prince makes offerings to the Son of Heaven. The petty person cannot.

  5. Line 5 of 14 Wealth

It's a time of wealth whose challenges aren't outside you but in falling into inertia or apathy. If you stay active and alert, you'll succeed.

Its sincere trust is shared, and it has majesty. Good fortune.
