Wealth becomes Immaturity

What this change means

A spring breaks out at the foot of a mountain as three lines move, and the radiant figure of wealth becomes a beginner's lesson. The judgment of 14 Wealth speaks of abundance, inner and outer, sustained by centered character and generosity so that it lasts and reaches others. The judgment of 4 Immaturity says you don't yet have the maturity to reach what you're after, and asks for humility: seek guidance, take advice, and put it into practice. In balance, having resources isn't the same as knowing how to use them. You may be holding more than your experience can manage well. Find someone who knows this territory and learn from them. Apply what you're told rather than just agreeing with it. Being humble about what you don't know protects your wealth far better than confidence that hasn't been tested yet.

What to read, in order

Marked ● is what Zhu Xi's tradition puts at the center for this number of moving lines.

  1. The judgment of 14 Wealth

A time of abundance and prosperity, both inner and outer. It's important to keep your character centered and to cultivate good deeds and generosity, so that this wealth lasts and reaches others.

    Great success.

  2. The judgment of 4 Immaturity

Be aware that you don't yet have the maturity you need to reach what you're after in the area of your question. Act with humility: ask for guidance, seek advice and counsel, and put what you're told into practice.

Success. I do not go looking for the ignorant youth; the ignorant youth comes looking for me. The first time the oracle is asked, I answer. A second and a third asking is an offense, and an offense gets no answer. Constancy is favorable.

  3. Line 1 of 14 Wealth

It's the early stage of wealth, and obstacles may arise. If you stay on the straight path and act simply, you'll keep moving forward.

No dealings with what harms; not a fault. Mindful of hardship, no fault.

  4. Line 3 of 14 Wealth

Greed, or using wealth only for your own benefit, will bring difficulties and loss. Generosity opens new possibilities.

The prince makes offerings to the Son of Heaven. The petty person cannot.

  5. Line 4 of 14 Wealth

It's important not to let envy get the better of you: look at the wealth you have and be grateful for it.

It does not flaunt its abundance. No fault.
