The Army becomes Lack of Firmness

What this change means

Wind blows beneath heaven as the third, fourth, fifth and top lines move: something small slips into the camp from below. Focus on the bottom two lines, which are the ones still at rest. The first says that when something or someone you'd be better off without enters your life, you should put distance there quickly, before it gains power. The second says that once you recognize the adverse influence, keep it under control, firmly but without violence, so it doesn't spread.

The resulting hexagram, 44 Lack of Firmness, describes being around unsuitable people or habits while thinking you can handle them. If you don't set firm limits, they can take control. So the army's discipline becomes the discipline of boundaries. Act early and calmly. Watch for underestimating a small problem because you feel strong.
