Thrift becomes Gradual Progress

What this change means

A tree grows slowly on a mountain: four lines move, and the hexagram becomes 53 Gradual Progress. The reading rests on the fourth and fifth lines, which stay still. The fourth says that in the middle of your progress, things beyond your control may come up; don't despair, act with caution and respond wisely, and you'll stay safe as conditions improve. The fifth says you may be cut off, with hostile people stirring up misunderstandings; all you can do is wait calmly, and it will pass on its own. So progress comes, but not smoothly. Expect interruptions. Measure here means patience: not reacting too strongly, not forcing your way through. Keep moving one rung at a time, and when you're blocked, wait it out calmly.
