Inner Peace becomes Coming Back

Starting hexagram
Resulting hexagram

What this change means

Thunder stirs inside the earth as the second, fourth and fifth lines move, Thunder taking the lower place and Earth the upper. Both judgments weigh equally. From the starting hexagram comes serenity that feeds achievement, kept alive by friends of like mind and by purpose. The resulting hexagram, 24 Coming Back, describes a return after adversity and darkness. Help arrives and your projects are favored, but stay aware of the mistakes that led you into the dark, because repeating them could bring you down again. Combined, they describe peace recovered. Remember what took it from you, perhaps the company or the habits that pulled you off course, and don't go back to them. Welcome the help that comes and rebuild with care.

What to read, in order

Marked ● is what Zhu Xi's tradition puts at the center for this number of moving lines.

  1. The judgment of 58 Inner Peace

You're in a time of calm and inner peace that lets you achieve great things. Spending time with people whose energy is like yours will nourish and recharge you to reach your aims. Still, don't lose sight of your goals, or you'll slide into inertia.

    Success. Constancy is favorable.

  2. The judgment of 24 Coming Back

After a period of adversity and darkness, the return comes. Still, be aware of the mistakes that led you into the dark, because if you repeat them you could fall again. People will come to help you, and your undertakings and projects will be favored.

Success. Going out and coming in without harm; friends arrive, no fault. Back and forth along its way: in seven days comes the return. It is favorable to have somewhere to go.

  3. Line 2 of 58 Inner Peace

Take great care over whom you spend time with and what activities you choose, because if you let yourself be drawn into worldly things without cultivating your inner life, you'll stray from your goals.

Joy with trust. Good fortune. Regret vanishes.

  4. Line 4 of 58 Inner Peace

You're moving between serenity and indulgence. Indulgence leads to empty pleasure; serenity, to inner joy. That is the true path to success.

Joy that bargains, never at rest. Once the ill is set apart, there is gladness.

  5. Line 5 of 58 Inner Peace

Contact with the wrong people can lead you into distraction and addiction. Once you realize it and put a stop to it, you'll get back on the path to inner peace.

Trusting what strips away: there is danger.
