Abundance becomes Thrift

Starting hexagram
Resulting hexagram

What this change means

The four middle lines move, leaving Lake below and Water above, a lake holding just the water it can. Two places don't move, the first and the sixth, and in the resulting hexagram, 60 Thrift, those are the lines to read. The first asks you to watch for the signs that tell you when to stop. The sixth says that sometimes restrictions that seem extreme are called for, in an exceptional time, but shouldn't be kept up too long. Coming out of Abundance, this is a call to measure. Conserve your time, energy and resources so you're ready for what's ahead. Know where the limit is, and stop there. If you need to tighten things sharply, do it, and then ease off when the need has passed. Measure kept wisely tends to make later challenges much easier to meet.
