Abiding becomes Gentleness

What this change means

Both mountains turn into wind, and stone becomes something that bends and enters. The fifth line leads: stillness now includes silence, since careless words could expose you, and orderly speech dissolves regret. The second line adds the limit of what you control: you can stop yourself in the right place, not others, and that may sit badly with you. The resulting hexagram, 57 Gentleness, says gain comes through mildness, not force. Choose a path and keep to it; success shows itself as small actions add up, and through seeking support from those above you. So don't push the people who won't stop. Speak little, influence gently, stay on course, and trust slow, quiet persistence over pressure. Quiet influence, kept up, tends to reach further than a raised voice.
