Abiding becomes Lack of Firmness

What this change means

Wind blows under heaven, slipping in everywhere, as the second, fourth and fifth lines move. The two judgments weigh the same. Abiding asks for a centered, steady stillness that doesn't go beyond the present. The resulting hexagram, 44 Lack of Firmness, warns about people or situations around you that aren't right for you. You may think you can manage them, even out of habit, and not take them seriously; without firm limits, they can take control. The link is plain: stillness here must include boundaries. Being calm doesn't mean being open to everything. Stop in the right place, and make sure others stop where they should with you. Notice what's creeping in, and say no early. Firm limits set calmly are far easier to keep than ones set in anger.
