Overflowing becomes Shock

Starting hexagram
Resulting hexagram

What this change means

Both trigrams become Thunder when the second, third and fifth lines move, and the figure turns into thunder upon thunder. Three lines in motion place the two judgments side by side. Overflowing speaks of buildup, of the need to bring things into the open without provoking, and of generosity to ease what's tense. The resulting hexagram, 51 Shock, describes unexpected events that would frighten others; keeping control and acting calmly is what gets results. Read together, they suggest the tension you've been holding may break loose suddenly. Prepare for that by staying composed. Choose your words carefully now, so that when the jolt comes there's less to inflame. And if it arrives, don't react in kind. Calm, deliberate action in the middle of upheaval can let you succeed where others lose their footing.
