Nourishment becomes Passivity

Starting hexagram
Resulting hexagram

What this change means

Both firm lines move, the first and the top, and Nourishment loses its frame: what's left is earth over earth. The top line leads. It's the source of sustenance for others, with danger and good fortune together and the great crossing favored; you gain the resources for your own affairs and help others with theirs, a large responsibility with large success. The first line pulls the other way, warning that envy and ingratitude for what you have hold you back. The resulting hexagram, 2 Passivity, says this isn't the time to take the initiative. Let others guide you and keep at your projects with patience. So hold your role as provider quietly. Be thankful for what you have, serve rather than lead, and let your support work without pushing for recognition. Steady receptivity is the strength now.

  2. Line 1 of 27 Nourishment

  4. The judgment of 2 Passivity

Great success. The constancy of a mare is favorable. The noble person has somewhere to go: going ahead, they lose the way; following behind, they find someone to guide them. It is favorable to find friends in the southwest and to lose them in the northeast. Calm constancy brings good fortune.
