Inaction becomes Abundance

What this change means

Thunder and lightning arrive together as the second, fourth and fifth lines move, putting Fire where Heaven was and Thunder where Water was. Three lines, so the two judgments balance. 5 Inaction asks for active, calm waiting: get ready, look honestly at the conditions, and stay alert to the moment when it's time to act.

The resulting hexagram, 55 Abundance, describes growth toward a time of fullness and satisfaction. It won't last forever, and when it wanes the advice is to stay calm and keep your spirits up. Taken together, the patience you practiced before the abundance is the same patience you'll need after it. Enjoy the good season fully, without clinging. Watch for sadness or worry when the peak passes; the calm that carried you through the wait can carry you through the ebb, too.
