Transition becomes Abiding

What this change means

The middle lines change and both trigrams become Mountain: water and fire still into one steady mass. The judgments are weighed equally. The starting hexagram describes a crossing not yet complete, where some pieces are still missing, and where hesitation or immature moves can lead you astray. The resulting hexagram, 52 Abiding, says that stillness is the best way forward now: stay centered and calm, wait for outer conditions to show you when to act, and don't go beyond what's happening. The two fit better than they first seem. The mistakes of a transition often come from restlessness. Stop, settle, and observe. Let the missing pieces arrive in their own time while you stay steady, and act only when the situation clearly invites it.

  2. The judgment of 52 Abiding

It's a time of stillness, of staying centered and steady: that's the best way forward in your present situation. Sometimes you need to stop, calm and confident, and wait for outer conditions to show you it's time to act. Don't go beyond what's happening now. There's no action, only a harmonious stillness, and staying that way brings success.

Drags back on its wheels. Constancy brings good fortune.

  4. Line 3 of 64 Transition

  5. Line 4 of 64 Transition

The time for action has come. Define what you want and head straight for it: you'll make growing, lasting progress.

Constancy brings good fortune. Regret vanishes. With the force of thunder the land of Guifang is attacked; in three years comes a reward from the great kingdom.
