What this change means
A lake lies at the foot of a mountain once the upper four lines change. The resulting hexagram, 41 Decrease, offers its first and second lines, which don't move, as the guide. The first says that when your own work is finished, your spare time and strength can go to others, provided they ask. The second says you can help without giving up anything of your own. Generosity was already the cure in Overflowing; here it gets refined. Give, but with measure. Finish your own work first, offer help where it's wanted, and don't drain yourself in the process. This is a time to conserve as well as share, avoiding excess while you prepare for growth that may come later.
