What this change means
Pride has no place in where this movement leads: the first, third, fourth and top lines move, and Biting turns into 15 Simplicity, a mountain inside the earth. The resulting hexagram's still lines guide the reading. The second says that acting from the heart and with simplicity brings recognition. The fifth, very close to the spirit of Biting, says that if you hold power you shouldn't abuse it, but you shouldn't overlook others' mistakes either; observe, then act in measure. So the bite remains, but trimmed of pride. Correct what needs correcting, fairly and without display. Don't boast about being right or turn the matter into a show. Keep things simple and even-handed, and let your qualities speak for themselves. Firmness without arrogance is what this change asks for.
