Thrift becomes Overflowing

What this change means

The lake climbs above heaven, close to bursting, as the third and fourth lines move: 43 Overflowing. The fourth line leads, asking for limits that aren't extreme and that you can actually enjoy. The third explains why: when you can't hold back, trouble builds, and the way out is to recognize it and act. Together they say that too little measure and too much both lead to pressure. The resulting hexagram shows what happens when that pressure accumulates: some situations are about to overflow, in your own life or your relationships. Bring what's going on into the open, but don't confront it head-on; choose words that won't provoke. A generous gesture can lower the tension. Then return to a balanced rule, one you can keep without strain, so the buildup doesn't start again.

  4. The judgment of 43 Overflowing

It's a time of excessive buildup: some situations are about to get out of control and overwhelm you, both personally and in your relationships. You need to bring what's happening into the open, but without speaking about it directly; watch your words so you don't provoke reactions. It's a time to act generously to ease the tension that's there.

It is proclaimed in the king's court. A sincere cry: there is danger. Word comes from one's own city. It is not favorable to take up arms. It is favorable to have somewhere to go.
