Great Achievements becomes Immaturity

What this change means

A spring breaks out under the mountain as Heaven below turns into Water: the third and first lines move, and Great Achievements becomes 4 Immaturity. The third line weighs more. The way is clearing and it's time to act, with good horses and daily practice, though you'll be forced to stop now and then. The first line warns of danger and asks you not to act in haste. The resulting hexagram adds that you don't yet have the maturity this matter needs, and that humility, guidance and practice will get you there. Read together: move, but as a learner. Ask for advice from people who know more, put it into practice, and treat every forced stop as a lesson. Readiness grows through training, not through rushing ahead.

What to read, in order

Marked ● is what Zhu Xi's tradition puts at the center for this number of moving lines.

  1. Line 3 of 26 Great Achievements

The way is clearing little by little, and it's time to act; still, watch for situations that force you to stop at certain moments. At those times, keep preparing for when it's time to move forward.

Good horses in pursuit. Constancy in hardship is favorable. Each day, drill with the chariot and in defense. It is favorable to have somewhere to go.

  2. Line 1 of 26 Great Achievements

Wait before acting for now; acting hastily won't turn out well.

There is danger. It is favorable to stop.

  3. The judgment of 26 Great Achievements

It's a good moment to leave your comfort zone and take on new actions, beyond what you think you can do. Heaven favors unusual actions that will lead you to success, because you have the qualities needed.

Constancy is favorable. Not eating at home brings good fortune. It is favorable to cross the great river.

  4. The judgment of 4 Immaturity

Be aware that you don't yet have the maturity you need to reach what you're after in the area of your question. Act with humility: ask for guidance, seek advice and counsel, and put what you're told into practice.

Success. I do not go looking for the ignorant youth; the ignorant youth comes looking for me. The first time the oracle is asked, I answer. A second and a third asking is an offense, and an offense gets no answer. Constancy is favorable.
