Coming Back becomes Immaturity

What this change means

Beneath the mountain a spring breaks out: with the first, second and top lines moving, Coming Back becomes 4 Immaturity. The two judgments balance each other. The first speaks of a return after dark times, with help arriving and projects favored, if you keep in mind the mistakes that brought you low. The second asks you to admit that you may not yet have the maturity your question requires, and to seek guidance, take advice and put it into practice. These point the same way. Remembering your mistakes is a kind of humility, and humility makes you teachable. So don't try to do the return on instinct alone. Find someone who knows the ground, listen carefully, and act on what you learn. The spring finds its way by being guided.

What to read, in order

Marked ● is what Zhu Xi's tradition puts at the center for this number of moving lines.

  1. The judgment of 24 Coming Back

After a period of adversity and darkness, the return comes. Still, be aware of the mistakes that led you into the dark, because if you repeat them you could fall again. People will come to help you, and your undertakings and projects will be favored.

Success. Going out and coming in without harm; friends arrive, no fault. Back and forth along its way: in seven days comes the return. It is favorable to have somewhere to go.

  2. The judgment of 4 Immaturity

Be aware that you don't yet have the maturity you need to reach what you're after in the area of your question. Act with humility: ask for guidance, seek advice and counsel, and put what you're told into practice.

Success. I do not go looking for the ignorant youth; the ignorant youth comes looking for me. The first time the oracle is asked, I answer. A second and a third asking is an offense, and an offense gets no answer. Constancy is favorable.

  3. Line 1 of 24 Coming Back

Success lies in doing things at the perfect time: watch the signs and act on them.

Returning from not far, without coming to regret. Great good fortune.

  4. Line 2 of 24 Coming Back

Surrounding yourself with the right people right now will bring success.

    A restful return. Good fortune.

  5. Line 6 of 24 Coming Back

If you let opportunities slip by and don't act at the right moment, it will no longer be possible to put things back in order, and you'll have to wait for new options to appear, which may take some time.

A lost return. Misfortune; there is calamity and ruin. If armies are set marching, in the end there will be a great defeat that reaches the ruler of the country. Misfortune. Not for ten years can a campaign be undertaken.
